DJ E SMOOVE PRESENTS - HEAVY D - NOTHING BUT LOVE TRIBUTE MIX

RIP HeavyD

DJ E SMOOVE PRESENTS - HEAVY D - NOTHING BUT LOVE TRIBUTE MIX by djsmoove-1

The only rival to his larger-than-life appearance was the oversize delivery of his soulful rhyme,Heavy D, along with a trio known as The Boyz (Glen Parrish, Troy Dixon, and Edward Ferrell) racked up a string of hits during the early part of 1990s. But more importantly, their successes helped to set the foundation for other artists to follow and ushered what many called the golden age of hip-hop.  He was a relentlessly positive rapper. You and your mom could both like him.  And this was true to the very end, even when it came to his Twitter page. RIP!

In memory of this Hip-Hop Pioneer, one of Tokyo’s top DJs, DJ E SMOOVE has put together a tribute mixtape that is sure to bring back those good memories of The Overweight Lover.  You can listen to it here or scroll down to find the download link.

Toupe Fiasco – Fish Hook (Donald Trump Diss)

“If rappers are so bold like they used to be there would be like 10 diss records for Donald Trump right now,” insist Chuck. “But the average rapper is afraid because they don’t know if Trump will have money for them one day. Money has brought their fear out. There are supposed to be 20 cats lined up cursing Trump the fuck out. This is supposed to be hip-hop, right?” - Chuck D (read the full article here)

Possibly in response to Chuck D's call to rappers to get at Donald Trump, Toupe Fiasco takes shots with Fish Hook:

Toupe Fiasco - Fish Hook
----------------------

Uh, what up y'all

Toupe Fiasco
Representing that April 15th
Yea

I dedicate this one right here
To all my CEO's out there grinding'
Legally and Illegally
Ha
You know what I'm talkin'bout
So, check it out

First got it at 26, didn't know any tricks
matter fact, first time i wore it it slipped
read the box for some tips, tried glue to make fit
couldn't sew it with a stitch, so i comb it like this
now we can end the story right here
if i join the race i could win it by a hair, yea
polls are so revealing, couldn't fight feeling
something about it, birth place yea we doubt it
couldn't understand it demanded from this scary islamic
but just to cover my tracks i would like to say i got love for the blacks
cha chinga chinga chang I won't pay no tax
If you're a citizen? why don't you show me the facts
my investigators on the ground got my back
made him show the record, long form attached, yea
i really didn't doubt it myself
but look what i did, i'm so proud of myself

So they fish, hook fish, hook fish, hook, fish hook, pull
can't get my toupee, money isn't evil i was born this way
So they fish, hook fish, hook fish, hook, fish hook, pull
can't get my piece, keeps my head from getting red when i'm at the beach
so they Fish, and Hook, and Pull

I want to give a shout out to my homey Wig Khalifa.
My producer Sean Puffy Combover, 10 years from now it'll still be on top
Tape that, tape that, tape that, tape that.
Rest in Peace to the Notorious B.A.L.D.

“The Rain” Timid ft Jalima Shani

The Rain cover

A new joint from Timid featuring Jalima Shani

Produced by REC and mixed and mastered by ME!

“THE RAIN”

Timid is an emcee’s emcee, with intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics dropped over tight production
carrying influences from jazz, to soul and funk, to classical orchestra.  He has received an immensely positive reception on several of the major Hip Hop websites, featured on numerous mixtapes worldwide and has received radio play in Florida, Africa, Canada, and Japan. As well as stage stops from New York to Tokyo and television and radio appearances from Washington DC to Australia. Timid has shared the stage with artists such as Travis Barker & DJ AM, Warren G, Paul Wall, Jeru The Damaja, CunninLynguists, A-Alikes, Agallah of Dipset and Pack FM and has worked along with Hip Hop veterans like Mikey D (Mikey D & The LA. Posse/Main Source), Granddaddy IU, Edo G, Lin Que (X-Clan, MC Lyte) and Domingo. Along with features and production on releases distributed by legendary Hip Hop label Rawkus Records and Japan’s Handcuts Records, Timid is not one to sleep on

Jalima is one of the most dynamic artists on today’s music scene. Her style can be described as a unique blend of poetic lyrics, passionate delivery, and intelligent wordplay contained within a currant of constant positive energy. Growing up amid the culturally diverse artistic scenes of Philadelphia Pennsylvania her sound developed into a fluid combination of a deep respect for history and innovative style. With topics that usually in some way deal with appreciating who you are as a person and recognizing your own self worth she creates bridges through music that breaks down barriers of pretense.
